Admissions to IITs is based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE ADVANCED subject to the condition that candidate must be among the top 20 percentile in his/her board category wise or should have secured a minimum of 75% marks in his/her respective board examination.
The performance of a candidate in JEE Advanced will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor's, Integrated Master's and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in the sixteen IITs. The examination consists of two papers, paper1 and Paper 2, each of 3 hour duration. Both the papers are objective type and are aimed to check the analytical, logical and comprehensive skills of the student.
Two consecutive attempts are allowed provided candidates fulfill the Eligibility Criteria.
Currently there are 23 IITs and 31 NITs in India in which admissions are taken through JEE ADVANCED and JEE MAIN respectively.
JEE ADVANCED Examination will be conducted as a computer based online exam from 2018. The JEE (Advanced) 2019 will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019. The entire JEE (Advanced) 2019 Examination will be conducted in fully computer based test mode.
The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2019 will be conducted by the IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2019. The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs. The decisions of the JAB 2019 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2019 and admission to IITs.
The examination consists of two papers, Paper I and Paper II, each of three hour duration, and will be held as per the following schedule.
